Attend a Monday Panel to Talk with Expert Workers and Requesters


report on some of the observations you gathered during the panel

What is happening and what i hear and see?

1.Mturk is used by many researchers (human science department) to conduct survey

2.It is no small task to find job turker like who turk full time.

3.Turkers are using many tools ,scripts(like turkmaster:- it runs on background and informs u about hits from grup u like,keyword u like,request u like) to find good jobs and earn more money.

4.There are casual turker and (second one)there are people who use Mturk to run their family

5.Money is the key motivation to work on Mturk and the turker community is the unit which male them stick to it.

6.In starting everyone has to face dejection(rejection,Low pay $ 10-$15 a week)

7.when turkers ask question about rejection to requesters via email...it also helps requesters to improve their design..things which are not clear...

8.Requsters include some open ended questions as to check whethers workers took task seroiusly.

9.workers cant download task (some task require other sw) (Its just harming good ones only)

10.Requesters set price according how long will it take to complete work.They dont pay high because it reduce quality.They may block some worker to improve quality.Give microtask to control quality

11.Rejecting people is not cost effective

12.It is difficult to make task done by a particular worker.

13.Requesters are not sure 100% their will work be completed.Giving too little a time may be harmful foe requesters

14.workers filter work according to money no of hours, availabilty,liking


What is out of frame?(corresponding to each point)


1.They want larger population to participate and not only the university people

2.They have to use various scripts ,see requester rating ,what other people are doing.It is dependent on whether people are willing to share

3.Turker community is going toward the path of unity .people are making tools to help each other.They are interacting on various platforms so as to dominate over the requesters.

4.Second one are the ones who are more active on various platforms rating the requesters

5.Desire for money is the one which leads to unity and interaction among turkers like coworkers and as a group together they know the can dominate requester society.(If u want something u will find people as said by spamgirl)

6.people dont know the tricks and tact to find good job.Training not provided.

7.forums are helping requesters too (not as much as workers)

12.platform dont have good prior knowledge about participants,population workers.

2.Its more time consuming for them to answer to each and every rejection .Instead the accept and later on fliter the work for themselves
