Badge weighting:

In some ways, the people who announce their contributions publicly and have large teams that reciprocate badging end up getting more than others. I don't think that page rank can do enough to counteract this, at this point. Also, I think that the current system of badging alienates individuals if the only reason for having the badges is to get your name listed nearer the beginning of a research paper. I, for one, am not fussed about the order in which my name appears, or even that it appears at all.

Suggestion:

Indicate appropriate weighting for each type of badge. For example a #milestonesubmission or #DRI badge would be given more weight than a #community or #acknowledgement badge. First the definition and outline of who can give which badges needs to be decided upon.

We also need to discuss and come to a consensus of what the ultimate purpose of the badging system is. Could it be for a "voting chit" to be able to vote on moving forward various aspects of the site or for being allocated a percentage of stocks in the future organisation? Things like that would be game changers, I think.
