Milestone 4 UX test-flights for Heuristics Evaluation (HE) and User testing

DRIs @dilrukshi @arichmondfuller

The UX plan for Daemo has 2 main phases to complete for this milestone: HE and User testing

Complete either the HE or User-testing work for this milestone.

1 . Heuristics Evaluation (HE) for Daemo

Login to Daemo's live version and identify any HE violations.

The 10 Usability Heuristics Nielson Norman Group

1. Visibility of system status

2. Match between system and the real world

3. User control and freedom

4. Consistency and standards

5. Error prevention

6. Recognition rather than recall

7. Flexibility and efficiency of use

Deliverable

Explain your findings in a wiki and incorporate screenshots of the violations accompanied by the description.

For each violation use Severity rating

0 = I don't agree that this is a usability problem at all

1 = Cosmetic problem only: need not be fixed unless extra time is available on project

2 = Minor usability problem: fixing this should be given low priority

3 = Major usability problem: important to fix, so should be given high priority

4 = Usability catastrophe: imperative to fix this before product can be released

2 . User Testing for Daemo

You can see what User testing is in this small video by Neilson (7:12 minutes)

Conduct User testing using 2-5 selected users. Ideally the user/s you select will have previous experience in crowdsource work on another microtask-type platform. You can do either on-site or remote testing (use Google hangout-in air and screen share the testing where it will record for the purpose).

Make sure you ask users to think aloud while they performing the given tasks and measure the time they spend on each task.

1. First register on Daemo https://daemo-playground.herokuapp.com/[1] then take on the role of a requester to author the 2 task outlined below:

Task i. Create a small survey.

For example:

Request for name, email

Question 1 - How did you find out about our product (multiple choice)

a) by email

b) through the internet

c) from friends

Task ii. Create a task that includes images

For example:

Use 2 flower images and set up a task to compare both.

Deliverable

Provide a wiki page with your observations of the user/s creating Task i and Task ii (with an indication of how much time it took) by the user/s and any comments. Please incorporate your video/s of the user performing tasks.

2. Then take on the role of a worker by selecting 2 different tasks (either of which can be the ones they created themselves) from the task feed to complete.

Choose to either submit, save or skip by clicking on the buttons.

Deliverable

Provide a wiki page with your observations of the user/s completing the 2 different tasks (with an indication of how much time it took) and any comments. Please incorporate your video/s of the user performing tasks.
